2006 Scholarship Recipients
Colin
Thomas Dean
Returning for his third installment of a $4,000 scholarship from the Richard E.
Moreland Scholarship fund is Colin Thomas Dean. Colin is the son of David Dean, who is employed by Rinker Materials Hydro Conduit Division, and
Patricia Dean. Colin graduated from The First Academy in 2003 and is attending the University of Florida where he is majoring in Communications and
Journalism.
Ariane
"Ari" Jeanine Roche
Returning for her second installament of a 4,000 scholarship from the Richard E.
Moreland Scholarship is Ariane "Ari" Jeanine Roche. Ari
Roche is the daughter of Jim Roche
and Mary Roche. Ari graduated from Olympia High School in 2004 and is attending Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts where she
is
majoring in Business/Accelerated Management.
Ashleigh Amanda Darnell
This year's recipient of the $4,000 scholarship to a high school
graduate in 2006, receiving her first $1,000 installment, from the Richard E.
Moreland Scholarship is Ashleigh Amanda Darnell who is the daughter of Tom
Darnell, who is employed by Lynch Oil Co., Inc., and Cindy Dean. Ashleigh
graduated from Harmony High School in 2006 and plans on attending the Virginia
Intermont College in Bristol, Virginia where she plans on majoring in Biology
and Equine Studies. Ashleigh plans on pursuing a career in the equine and
pharmacology industries.
Ashleigh’s class ranking was four out of 214 students, and she graduated with a 4.5964 weighted GPA.
Ashleigh has received the President’s Award for Education Excellence. She was a member of the National Honor Society and participated on the cross country team, yearbook staff, fellowship of Christian Athletes, Envirothon Team and was Vice President of Best Buddies.
Cory Charles Porteus
The recipient of the college one–time only $1,000 Scholarship
from the Richard E. Moreland Scholarship went to Cory Charles Porteus.
Cory is the son of Steve Porteus, who is employed by Ring Power Corporation, and
Penny Porteus. Cory graduated from East Ridge High School in 2005 and is
attending the University of Tampa where he is majoring in biology.
After completion of his biology degree, Cory will attend a chiropractor school for four years then become a practicing chiropractor.
Cory is a biology tutor and a chemistry lab assistant at the university.
Kristopher Alan Shotwell
The recipient of a one–time only $500 Meritorious Scholarship
from the Richard E. Moreland Scholarship went to Kristopher Alan
Shotwell. Kristopher is the son of Larry Shotwell, who is employed by Phillips
& Jordan, Inc., and Nancy Shotwell. Kristopher graduated from Freedom High
School in 2006 and will be attending Morrisville State College in Morrisville,
NY.
Timothy Glenn Bullington
The recipient of a one–time only $500 Meritorious Scholarship
from the Richard E. Moreland Scholarship went to Timothy Glenn Bullington.
Timothy is the son of Rick Bullington, who is employed by Central Florida
Tapping & Construction Services, Inc., and Bobbi Bullington. Timothy
graduated from Lake Mary High School in 2006 and will be attending the
University of North Florida where he will be majoring in Civil Engineering.
Vaasha Shanni Lutchman
The recipient of a one–time only $500 Meritorious Scholarship
from the Richard E. Moreland Scholarship went to Vaasha Shanni Lutchman.
Vaasha is the daughter of Dipchand Lutchman, who is employed by Hubbard
Construction Company, Inc., and Chandra Lutchman. Vaasha Lutchman graduated from
Cypress Creek High School in 2006 and will be attending Florida State University
where she will be majoring in Environmental Engineering.
Stacy L. Pohlman
The recipient of a one–time only $500 Meritorious Scholarship
from the Richard E. Moreland Scholarship went to Stacy L. Pohlman. Stacy
is the daughter of Teri Pohlman, who is employed by Rain for Rent, and Kevin
Pohlman. Stacy Pohlman Belleview High School in 2006 and will be attending the
University of Northern Florida where she will be majoring in pre-pharmacy.
